Dua Lipa was sued by Artikal Sound System claiming that her song ‘Levitating’ sounded a bit too similar to their song ‘Live Your Life’.
‘Live Your Life’ came out in 2017 and ‘Levitating’ came out in 2020.
Taylor Swift’ ‘Shake It Off’
Swift was sued by 3LW as ‘Shake It Off’ allegedly copied their 2000’s song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’s’ lyrics ‘Them playas gon’ play Them haters gonna hate.’
The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’
The Verve was sued by The Andrew Oldham Orchestra as ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony ‘sounds similar to their song ‘The Last Time.’
Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’
Sam Smith was sued by Tom Petty as Smith’s 2014 song ‘Stay With Me’ sounded similar to Petty’s 1989 song ‘I Won’t Back Down.’
Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’
‘Blurred Lines’ got sued by Marvin Gaye as it sounds similar to his song ‘Got To Give It Up’
Ed Sheeran’ ‘Shape Of You’
Sheeran was sued by Sam Switch claiming that ‘Shape of You’ sounds similar to his song ‘Oh Why.’
Sheeran was also recently sued for allegedly plagiarising Marvin Gaye as his song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ resembles ‘Let’s Get It On.’

Nirvana’s ‘Come as You Are’ was sued for sounding similar to the Killing Joke’s ‘Eighties.’
The Beach Boys’ ‘Surfin’ USA’
The Beach Boys were sued as their track sounded similar to Chuck Berry’ ‘Sweet Little Sixteen.’
Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’
Joe Satriani sued Coldplay as ‘Viva La Vida’ sounded similar to ‘If I Could Fly.’
