Marsaxlokk are the new leaders of the 360 Sports Malta Premier while Ħamrun Spartans and Sliema Wanderers sent a real statement of intent with crucial victories as the title race took another significant twist last weekend.

Marsaxlokk moved into top spot with a clinical 4-0 victory over Mosta at the National Stadium.
Lucas Lopez fired Marsaxlokk ahead and Dodo Soares all but killed off Mosta’s hopes of a fightback with with two goals at either side of half-time.
Alex De Aguiar sealed the points with a fourth goal late on.
Birkirkara FC (0 – 1) Ħamrun Spartans FC
Ħamrun Spartans sent a real title statement when they overcame rivals Birkirkara 1-0.
The match turned out to be a hard-fought affair which was decided midway through the first half when Neil Micallef was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity and from the resultant free-kick Roko Prsa hit a rasping drive that gave goalkeeper Gianluca Volpe no chance.
Birkirkara had a second player sent off in stoppage time when Alex Satariano was shown a second yellow card for dissent.
Floriana FC (0 – 2) Sliema Wanderers FC
Sliema Wanderers moved up to second place in the standings when they overcame Old Firm rivals Floriana 2-0.
Mohammed Awad put the Wanderers ahead on 64 minutes before Vito Plut added a second goal six minutes later.
Hibernians FC (3 – 0) Melita FC
In the Bottom Six, Hibernians broke little sweat to overcome Melita 3-0.
Kevin Fraga put the Paolites ahead after only three minutes of play and Alex Bruno doubled their avantage on 33 minutes.
Hibs sealed the points in the second half through Luis Villela.
Żabbar St. Patrick FC (2 – 0) Naxxar Lions FC
Żabbar St Patrick scored a goal in each half to overcome Naxxar Lions 2-0.
Diogo Tavares put them ahead with a firm low drive before David Souza headed home the second 14 minutes from time.
Gżira United FC (0 – 0) Balzan FC
In the other match of the weekend, Gżira United and Balzan cancelled each other in a goalless draw.
