The 360 Sports Malta Premier continued to provide more drama last weekend as Ħamrun Spartans’ uninspiring run continued with a damaging 2-1 defeat to Mosta that cost the job of coach Alessandro Zinnari.
Floriana maintained their winning momentum while Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk shared the spoils following a 1-1 draw.
Here is a roundup of all the action from Matchday 25 by SportsDesk.
Ħamrun Spartans FC (1 – 2) Mosta FC
The match of the week turned out to be the clash between Ħamrun Spartans and Mosta which saw the Blues pile more misery on the Malta champions following a 2-1 win.
Mosta were regaled the lead when Joseph Mbong’s wayward backpass was intercepted by Gustavo Goncalves who slotted the ball past Ħamrun goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
The towering goalkeeper was then protagonist when he saved Clayton Failla’s penalty just before the break to keep his team in the match.
After the break, Ħamrun stepped up the pressure and they equalised through Cesar Menacho.
But it was Mosta who had the final say with Gabriel Chiemezie netting the winner.
The result proved costly for Zinnari who was sacked from his job and Winston Muscat was installed as the new Ħamrun Spartans coach.
Gżira United FC (0 – 3) Floriana FC
Floriana produced an impressive performance to dismantle Gżira United 3-0.
Fernandinho fired Floriana ahead from a free-kick before the Brazilian doubled their lead minutes later.
The Greens sealed the points with a third goal scored by Elvis Mashike on 69 minutes.
Birkirkara FC (1 – 1) Marsaxlokk FC
Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk took a point each following a 1-1 draw.

Balzan FC (2 – 3) Sliema Wanderers FC
Sliema Wanderers were back to winning when they beat Balzan 3-2.
Vito Plut gave Sliema ahead with a headstart with a well-taken double before Adam Magri Overend made it 3-0.
Balzan fought back late on when they pulled two goals back through a Triston Caruana penalty and a Gianluca Cacciatore strike.
Melita FC (1 – 1) Żabbar St. Patrick FC
