Summer is around the corner and these are 6 things you can do during the hot months at a low cost.
Whether you fancy doing something by yourself, with friends, or with family, here are a few ideas that we have put together for a great Summer’s day or night out across Malta and Gozo…
Picnics
Malta’s warm summer calls for picnics on the beach or in the countryside. Pack your favourite refreshing fruits, dips and crackers and don’t forget to apply sunscreen and stay hydrated. You do that by drinking water, not an Aperol Spritz by the way! There are multiple spots for a picnic in Malta but Mistra Bay overlooking the St Paul’s islands has got to be one of our favourites!
Hiking
If you would like to enjoy your day off and get some cardio in too, hiking is definitely for you! We are lucky enough to have a high number of hiking trails with amazing views of the Maltese islands. You can start from Marsaskala, go through Delimara and end up in Marsaxlokk for a nice lunch or hike through Żurrieq and take in all the stunning Blue Grotto views.
Outdoor Gym
If hiking and cardio aren’t your thing, you can spend a few hours at one of Malta’s outdoor gyms for free! These gyms are easily accessible and can be found all around Malta such as Bugibba, Birkirkara, Ta Qali and more.
Thrifting
Spend the day shopping and remain on a budget. You can avoid fast fashion and do your bit at a number of charity shops in Malta that sell second hand clothing and accessories for everyone. You can find unique pieces at an affordable price when it comes to thrift shopping! Some of our favourite spots are Happy Paws and MSPCA Charity Shops for a bargain that goes towards a good cause.
Swimming
A refreshing dip is a must during the hot months and trips to the beach are no longer than 15 minutes away because we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to sandy and rocky beaches across the islands. A great secluded area for a peaceful dip in our blue sea is Slugs Bay, Mellieħa.
Whatever you choose to do, we’re sure that your Summer will be a good one!
