All The Disney Movies Released This Year

Disney has booked a busy year!

You have to admit, we were all once major Disney fans … and some of us still are.

Disney keeps us entertained with an endless flow of upcoming movies.

And the movies coming out in 2023 have us excited.

Peter Pan & Wendy

A live-action adaptation of J. M. Barrie’s novel!

This time around, Peter Pan & Wendy focuses more on Wendy and Tiger Lilly.

We’ll see the Lost Boys, Captain Hook, and our favourite fairy Tinker Bell once again.

Oh, and obviously, the boy who never grows up, Peter Pan.

Peter Pan and Wendy premiered on April 28th 2023.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

After Avengers: Endgame and Gamora’s death, Peter Quill is determined to put his team of misfit heroes to work saving the galaxy.

While also getting closer to the alternate Gamora, who doesn’t even know him.

It premiered on May 5th 2023.

Crater

It is the year 2257 and a group of teenagers living on the moon leave the only home they’ve ever known.

They head out on a parent-free adventure on the moon’s surface, searching for a legendary crater.

It premiered on  May 12th 2023 on Disney+.

The Little Mermaid

Disney’s live action remake of the 1989 original film ‘The Little Mermaid.’

And Halle Bailey will officially take her rightful place among Disney Princesses.

The premiere date is May 26th.

Elemental

The Elemental world, where all four elements live together.

Ember, a Fire resident, and Wade, a Water resident, form a friendship despite it all.

It premieres on June 16th.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Ford reprises his iconic Indiana Jones role for the fifth time, donning the hat and wielding the whip.

His planned retirement is put on hold when his goddaughter proposes one last mission.

The premiere date is June 30.

Haunted Mansion

The upcoming Haunted Mansion movie is based on Disneyland’s attraction and is also a remake.

Not to be confused with 2003’s film, this new interpretation follows a single mother who hires a tour guide/psychic/priest/historian to help her get rid of the creepy ghost in her new home.

It premieres on July 28th.

The Marvels

This one sees a superhero twist on the classic body-swap comedy.

The Marvels is the sequel to Captain Marvel that will debut Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan.

In the film, Captain Marvel must team up with Monica, her estranged niece, and Kamala, her teenage superfan.

The three women discover that their powers are linked and it is causing them to switch places every time they use them.

It premieres on November 10th.

And here is a list of films coming out this year that are yet to have a premier date:

Wish

An animated musical centered around Asha, a teenager whose wish upon a star sparks a new journey when the star descends to join her.

A yet-unknown villain threatens Asha’s community, so Asha and Star embark on a mission to save them.

Stan Lee

A new Disney+ documentary will honor Marvel Entertainment legend Stan Lee.

In the documentary, fans expect to see Lee’s comic creations and iconic characters, as well as his involvement in the MCU, showcased.

Dashing Through the Snow

Disney releases an upcoming holiday movie this year.

It is expected to be released during the holidays (duh!).

The film follows a divorced dad who hates Christmas due to unresolved childhood trauma.

He sets on an adventure with his daughter on Christmas Eve and one can only guess what happens next.

Young Woman and the Sea

A period piece about Trudy Ederle, an Olympian who became the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926!

Out of My Mind

Last year, Disney+ announced an adaptation of Sharon M. Draper’s novel Out of My Mind.

Melody, a girl with photographic memory, but due to her cerebral palsy, is often overlooked at school.

Aladdin: Live From the West End

Disney is here to make musicals more accessible.

A live recording of the Tony Award-winning show Hamilton has been released for those who can’t make it to Broadway.

And if you can’t make it to the West End theatres in London, Disney+ will soon stream the on stage production of Aladdin.

Three Men and a Baby

There’s a new Disney production featuring Zac Efron!

He’ll play one of three friends who suddenly have to care for a baby in this ’80s comedy reboot (if you couldn’t tell from the title).
