As the season gears up for another exciting Waterpolo League, last season’s top performers received their awards!
The Waterpolo Awards took place on Friday night at Xara Lodge.
Top-ranking officials from the ASA, Ministers and MPs, representatives of SportMalta, sponsors, and, of course, the stars of the league—the clubs, players, and match officials—attended the event.
The Aquatic Sports Association is celebrating its 100-year anniversary
The Waterpolo Awards Night was organised in collaboration with the league’s main sponsors, Bank of Valletta.
Before the awards ceremony, speakers took the stage to express their gratitude to the ASA and the players for elevating the level of the game.
Karl Izzo, President of the ASA, shared that Malta will once again host the Champions League Final Four later this year.
Malta will also host other international Waterpolo competitions, further cementing Malta’s position on the Waterpolo Map!
Waterpolo has grown into a sport where Malta can compete and achieve positive results on the international stage.

The evening celebrated players and coaches from the Men’s Premier, First Division, and Women’s League.
Standout winners included Jake Bonavia (St. Julians), who earned Player of the Year for the Premier Division.
Julian Valletta (Marsaxlokk)secured two awards: Best Player U18 and Player of the Year for the First Division.
Massimo Angilleri received recognition as Top Official, while the Women’s National Team coach won the award for Best Women’s League Coach for his success with Sirens.
The young up-and-coming stars of the game also got their recognition. They are the future of the game!
All eyes now turn to the Enemed Cup deciders happening this weekend before local waterpolo enthusiasts shift their focus to the BOV Leagues.
