Today is May 4th which means it’s Star Wars Day.
This day commemorates Star Wars, a sci-fi franchise created by George Lucas
So what better way to celebrate the day than by ranking the movies from the worst to the best.
The Rise of SkyWalker (2019)
The most recent movie in the franchise turns out to be the poorest.
What was supposed to be a fitting conclusion turned out to be a mess.
It left a sour taste in many fans’ mouths by how rushed and how unsatisfying everything concluded with its storyline and characters.
The Attack of the Clones (2002)
The second chapter of the prequel trilogy held the crown for being the least enjoyable of Star Wars for many years.
The movie is infamous for its hilariously terrible acting and a love story between Anakin and Padme that was a chore to watch.
The Phantom Menace (1999)
Arriving 15 years after Return of the Jedi, this was one of the most anticipated movies of all time.
It is also one of the most disappointing as the story failed to meet the expectations of what the original trilogy did.
This movie does feature the memorable pod race as well as the sith lord Darth Maul.
The Last Jedi (2017)
Rey continues her quest by learning the ways of the force from Luke Skywalker.
Directed by Rian Johnson, this is the most divisive of the franchise.
Some love it whilst others hate it.
The Force Awakens (2015)
A movie 10 years in the making, the seventh chapter lived up to the hype.
It introduced characters such as Rey, Finn and BB8 whilst Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia returned.
Although there are similarities to A New Hope, this is still an excellent start to the sequel trilogy.
The Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Despite still having the same issues as its predecessors, this is the most compelling of the prequel trilogy by far.
It delivers on what George Lucas promised fans, Anakin’s turn to the dark side.
The Return of the Jedi (1983)
While not on the same level as the first two, the final chapter of the original trilogy is still an outstanding movie.
It wraps up all loose ends with our principal characters and serves many epic moments such as the battle of Endor.
A New Hope (1977)
A revolutionary movie in every sense of the word, this was the movie that started it all.
It introduced the audience to a galaxy far far away and many characters that are some of the most iconic of the franchise.
The movie was hailed as an instant masterpiece among audiences and critics with most praising its story and dazzling visual effects.
It spanned numerous sequels and won seven Academy Awards.
The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
This is considered by many to be the gold standard of Star Wars.
It is the perfect sequel as it continues to build on the universe with its many galaxies introduced.
At the same time, it features an unpredictable, emotional story that leaves you wanting more when it ends.
