While Malta was asleep, the USA and millions of others tuned in for the 58th Super Bowl at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
The Super Bowl is the final match of the NFL season where the AFC and NFC champions go head to head.
This year saw the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers, the second time these two sides have met in the Super Bowl.
The match was a spectacle from opening to end with both sides coming out on top defensively and very evenly matched.
So much so that it came to overtime to decide where fate would end up.
The Chiefs won by a very narrow margin of 25-22 thanks to Mecole Hardman’s touchdown.
Their star quarterback Patrick Mahomes set up a glorious throw which capped off another superb performance from him.
He was named MVP for the third time in his career cementing himself as one of the finest in the game.
It was also an amazing night for Travis Kelce, with his girlfriend Taylor Swift cheering him on and garnering significant media attention.
The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots in 2004 and it’s their third title in five years.
Usher led the traditional halftime show this year, a lifelong dream for the singer that finally came true.
The eight-time Grammy winner sang a medley of his famous tunes.
He also brought some guests with Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris all accepting Usher’s invitation.
Reba McEntrie, a country music sensation sang the national anthem another tradition before the match began.
Prior to that, Post Malone performed a moving rendition of America the Beautiful.
Millions also tune in not for the match, but for the commercials which are a staple of the game.
As expected they didn’t disappoint and there were many stand outs.
Christopher Walken stars in a BMW commercial mocking people doing the same to him.
