For the past 8 weeks, athletes have worked hard to get ready for the grueling challenge!
Every year, Dar Tal-Providenza organizes a fundraising volleyball marathon.
40 athletes will take to the volleyball court Friday evening for a 53-hour marathon that ends on Sunday night.
Training started around 8 weeks ago, and those hoping to be chosen had to participate in training sessions and trials, during which they were ranked.
After choosing the final 40, they were split into 5 teams of 8 players each.
Each team represents different sponsors of the event.
Putting together such an event is a logistical feat in itself.
Hundreds of volunteers land a hand to ensure the smooth setup, running and wrapping up of the event.
But it’s all happening for a good cause, and the effort is most definitely worth it!
Dar Tal-Providenza needs over €8m annually to provide care for its residents.
The volleyball marathon is one of the fundraising efforts that are key to the survival of the home.
It is an annual appointment for a number of volunteers and athletes who come together to help make a difference!
It will all kick off at 6.30pm on Friday night in the presence of the President of Malta.
Every night various artists will take to the stage to entertain those attending or watching the marathon on TV.
Vibe FM is proud to be supporting the marathon and one of our very own is also amongst the athletes!
Frank from The Drive Vibe will finally get to participate after having attempted the trials many years ago.
He will be playing with the team wearing the blue kit so make sure you look out for him, and cheer him on if he looks tired!
Most importantly we encourage you to support Dar Tal-Providenza by donating and helping make this year’s marathon another huge success!
