We all need a little more Barbie Energy in our lives, I mean who wouldn’t want to live a life in plastic, it’s fantastic! Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling shared a few things that helped them get into character.
Ryan Gosling’s Pink Presents
Ryan revealed that Margot would leave him a pink present with a pink bow addressed from Barbie to Ken everyday while they were filming on set. The presents were all beach related since “Ken’s job is just beach”. Luckily, Malta is also just beach so grab a pair of pink sunglasses and relax in the sun!
Margot Robbie’s inspiration for her ‘Barbie Energy’
Margot shared that to channel her Barbie Energy she takes inspiration from Gal Gadot, best know for playing ‘Wonder Woman’. She explained how Gal embodies Barbie’s energy as she is so impossibly beautiful but you cannot hate her for being beautiful. Gal is described as so genuinely sincere and so enthusiastically kind that its almost dorky by Margot.
Having Barbie energy is not about being blonde and wearing pink but embodying sincerity and kindness. After all that’s what makes Barbie so likeable!
The significance of Barbie’s clothes
Margot talked about the role that Barbie’s wardrobe will play in the story. She explained how while the outfits Barbie wears are superficial they are also profound in how they show Barbie can be anything she wants to be. If Barbie puts on a suit she can be a lawyer and if she puts on a space helmet she can be an astronaut.
Margot addressed how Barbie is an inspiration for young girls seeing Barbie have a car, a house, and any career that they want. Barbie gets her power from her fashion and style.
