The Crown has returned for its sixth and final time.
The sixth season will be divided into two parts and focus on the Royal family’s events between 1997 and 2005.
The first four episodes are available now and the rest will launch in mid-December on Netflix.
The season has started off by portraying Princess Diana’s final months of her life until her tragic death in 1997.
It also depicts two photoshoots in August of that same year that were significant in the Royal family’s life.
The UK’s Sunday Mirror Newspaper caused a media firestorm on August 10th.
On their front page, they published the first photo of Princess Diana kissing her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed.
The two were on Dadi’s father’s yacht in Sardinia Italy during a vacation.
Headlined as “The Kiss”, the newspaper had around 10 pages of photos taken by an Italian photographer named Mario Brenna.
The headline also had text underneath hinting at the couple’s possible engagement.
Brenna made millions from the pictures and there is a possibility that Dodi’s father helped him take the photos.
The photo was recreated during this season’s second episode.
A young Prince William reads the newspaper in his room that makes him concerned about his mother’s relationship.
The show also gives the viewer the moment they kiss, without knowing Brenna was close by.
Just two days later, King Charles participated in a photo shoot with his children Princes William and Harry.
The three were at Polvier by the River Dee at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle.
This spot was Queen Elizabeth’s favourite place and a summer retreat for the Royal Family.
The Crown displayed the photos as a reply to Diana and Dodi’s kiss to show Charles as sympathetic to the British public.
The show sees Charles hiring Scottish photographer Duncan Marir to take the photos.
In reality, this was not the case as there were several Fleet Street photographers.
The photoshoot also saw William skipping stones in the river with Charles and Harry watching closely.
In addition to the three being pictured with their dogs, the show recreates both of these moments.
This season sees the newspapers’ headlines on the photos but took the creative and dramatic route.
Charles’ shoot with his two sons dominates The Mirror’s front page as a “Royal World Picture exclusive.”
This never happened, despite the three appearing on just two pages.
British newspapers headlined Dodi and Diana’s relationship update instead.
The show also dramatizes the Daily Record’s take on the photos.
They feature on the front page and mention how embarrassed William and Harry looked.
What really happened was that the newspaper put the photos on its fifth page.
Their front page was a story about dustmen embarking on a strike.
This was to support their colleague who was accused of hitting a rival with a wheelie bin.
