The latest round of matches in the men’s futsal championship delivered high scores and important shifts in momentum, even as the women’s league took a break for the week. University of Malta Futsal consolidated their status as leaders with a dominant win, while the battle for the places behind them grew even tighter.
University of Malta Extend Lead
University of Malta Futsal enjoyed a statement 12-2 victory over Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA, a result that further strengthened their grip on top spot. This heavy defeat also halted Żejtun’s push toward the upper positions, while giving the University side a valuable advantage at the summit.
First Points for U19 Selection
Futsal Selection U19 registered their first points of the season with a convincing 4-0 win against Futsal Selection U17. With this result, the U17 selection remain the only side yet to register any points so far.
Marsaskala’s Six-Goal Hero
In the week’s other fixture, Marsaskala Futsal Legends overcame GZR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal 7-4 in an entertaining clash. Karl Luke Schembri was the star of the show, netting six goals for Marsaskala and helping his team join Birżebbuġa on points in second place, even though Birżebbuġa have a game in hand and both sides remain three points behind University of Malta.
After these results, University of Malta Futsal lead the table with 15 points from 5 matches. They are followed by GZR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal on 12 points from 5 matches, and Marsaskala Futsal Legends also on 12 points but from 6 matches played.
