Lija Athletic Women have been crowned champions of the Enemed Women’s Futsal League after a commanding 4-1 victory over Swieqi United LEC07 in the decisive third final at the De La Salle Pavilion in Vittoriosa.
After both teams had claimed a win each in the opening two finals, anticipation was high for the title decider. Lija Athletic rose to the occasion, displaying determination and teamwork to secure the championship and successfully retain their title.
The match began with both sides showing strong defensive organization, but it was Lija who broke the deadlock and gradually took control of the contest. Swieqi United, who had come close to sealing the title in the previous final, struggled to contain Lija’s relentless attacks.
With this result, Lija Athletic Women Futsal have now been crowned champions of the Enemed Women’s Futsal league as they retain the title!
With the women’s champions decided, attention now turns to the men’s Enemed Premier League semi-finals.
Last Wednesday, Luxol St Andrews took a significant step towards the final with a 3-1 victory over University of Malta.
The second semi-final sees Swieqi United LEC07 face Ta’ Xbiex SC this evening at 8:45 PM at the National Sports School, promising another thrilling encounter as teams battle for a place in the final.
