A record-breaking Maltese contingent heads to Poland!
The Scout Association of Malta is preparing for its biggest international event ever! In 2027, a record 426 Scouts, Guides, and Leaders from 34 local groups will represent Malta at the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland. This will be the largest-ever Maltese contingent at the event.
Leading the team are Head of Contingent Timmy Cutugno and Deputy Head of Contingent David Grech. They will guide 244 Scouts and Guides (ages 14-18) and 182 Adult Leaders. This milestone shows the growth of Scouting in Malta and its focus on leadership, friendship, and adventure.
What Is the World Scout Jamboree?
The World Scout Jamboree is the biggest global event in Scouting. Hosted by the Polish Scouts Association (ZHP) and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), it brings together Scouts from 175+ countries. For two weeks, young people will take part in cultural exchange, skill-building, and outdoor adventures.
Head of Contingent Timmy Cutugno shared his excitement:
“Sending over 400 members to Poland is a huge moment for Malta’s Scouts. It shows the hard work of our Leaders and the passion of our young Scouts. We’re also thrilled to have members of the Malta Girl Guides join us on this journey.”
An Experience of a Lifetime
For many, this will be a life-changing experience. Deputy Head of Contingent David Grech highlighted the impact of the Jamboree:
“The Jamboree is more than just a trip. It’s a chance to meet Scouts from around the world, learn new skills, and grow as a person. Our Scouts will return home with unforgettable memories.”
Preparing for Poland 2027
The Maltese Scouts and Guides will take part in training sessions, team-building activities, and leadership workshops before they head to Poland. These will help them gain skills and confidence for the Jamboree.
This journey will be a proud moment for Malta. Stay tuned for updates as our Scouts and Guides get ready for this incredible adventure!
