At just 31 years old, Maltese rock climber Rita Saliba is aiming to achieve the unthinkable: completing the Seven Summits challenge.
Rita is dedicated to adventure and perseverance on a global scale, not just in Malta!
The Road to the Top

Rita’s achievements already scream motivation and dedication:
- This year, she smashed a Grade 7c sport route
- In 2023, she successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa’s highest peak at 5,895m)
- In 2024, she conquered Mount Elbrus (Europe’s highest peak at 5,642m)

These climbs all contribute to her long-term goal: The Seven Summits. No-one from Malta has ever completed this challenge, meaning Rita is aiming for an historic first!
Next Stop: Mount Aconcagua
Rita’s next mountain mission kicks off soon! On December 21, 2025, she sets off to Argentina to attempt Mount Aconcagua (6,962m), the highest mountain in South America and her third climb of the Seven Summits.
Aconcagua is famous for being difficult due to its extremes:
- Extreme Altitude: At nearly 7,000m, there’s less than half the oxygen of sea level. The rate of people succeeding summit are tough, often under 50%, because altitude sickness prevents many climbers from reaching their goal.
- Weather: The mountain is known for its “Viento Blanco” (White Wind), which can put climbers in a situation with hurricane-force gales and temperatures below –20°C.
- Endurance: The expedition can last up to 20 days, demanding constant mental toughness and physical determination.
If the weather isn’t an issue, Rita plans to make her summit push in early January 2026.
Supporting the AAA

This expedition is much bigger than a personal record for Rita. She is using the visibility of this adventure to support the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) here in Malta!
The AAA is a sanctuary that gives shelter, care, and a second chance to abandoned and mistreated animals. By involving the AAA, Rita is aiming to bring attention to their incredible work and encourage the Maltese community to get involved.
This entire experience is built on three key areas:
- Adventure: Completing one of the world’s most challenging climbs.
- Endurance: Pushing past extreme mental and physical limits.
- Giving Back: Using her mission to support a meaningful cause that helps animals in Malta.
Rita’s climb has the amazing support of local sponsors, including VisitMalta, eeetwell, and Daniels Antiques & Collectibles.
