The MCAST Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) is celebrating a big win after its student team participated in the first Global Robotics Competition in Panama! The team proudly represented Malta, going head-to-head with talent from around the world and showing off some serious skill.
Global Alliance and Top Tier Ranking
In the initial stages, Malta’s team ranked 19th overall among 181 countries! This performance secured them a spot in the playoffs, placing them among the top 24 teams worldwide.
The real excitement came in the final rounds. The MCAST students formed an international alliance with teams from Serbia, Lithuania, and Kenya. Together, they fought their way to an outstanding second-place finish in the semifinal!
This achievement is a clear signal of the students’ great technical skill, creativity, and teamwork, putting MCAST on the map for excellence in technology education. The team was backed by Director Mr. Conrad Vassallo and Deputy Director Mr. Thomas Gatt.
