Pedro Pascal, fresh from winning a SAG Award for “The Last of Us,” shared his method for learning lines, calling it “crazy.”
During the SAG-AFTRA Foundation virtual round table a few days before the ceremony, Pedro surprised Matthew MacFadyen, Kieran Culkin and Billy Crudup.
The three were Pedro’s fellow nominees in the Outstanding Actor in Drama Series category.
Each actor told each other how they learned their lines.
When it was Pascal’s turn, he took out a notebook that looked like an impossible word puzzle to solve.
He uses a ciphering system, writing down the first letter of each word all organized in several columns.
This helps him memorize his lines without having to read the script.
Pascal describes it as tedious but very effective which shocked everyone especially Kieran Culkin who first found it rubbish.
He started using this memory system after forgetting lines during his stage performance of Much Ado About Nothing in 2014.
The video exploded on X with many finding humor in it, comparing him to the Zodiac Killer’s cryptic and ciphered messages.
One user jokingly said he wanted the actor to be arrested as soon as possible.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe welcomes Pascal as Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie which is set for release next year.
Many people feel confident that he will deliver in the role and use his ciphering system again.
