The Enemed Futsal Supercup Final Was All Drama

We are hooked after watching a futsal match for the first time!

Having become the Official Radio Station for the Malta Futsal Association we are now following closely all that is happening in Futsal in Malta!

Last night we had two very strong teams compete for the first honours of the season.

The Enemed Futsal Cup saw Luxol St Andrews take on the University of Malta Students Futsal Team.

Upon arriving it was immediately clear we were in for a treat.

Fans for both sides quickly filled up the bleachers in the gymnasium and got ready to cheer their team on.

As the coaching staff warmed up their respective teams the Vibe FM crew took care of warming up the crowd, not that they needed much to get all hyped up!

As soon as the match started Luxol St. Andrews quickly took control and were leading  3-0 by halftime.

The UOM missed a couple of important chances  and seemed to struggle to keep up with the pace of Luxol.

But the second half is were all the drama was going to unfold.

Luxol scored their fourth goal early and it all looked like a done deal.

UOM were awarded a penalty soon after which they scored to make it 4-1.

They believed they could turn things around and piled on the pressure on Luxol, forcing them into mistakes and were clearly back in the game.

UOM kept pushing and scored another two goals to make it 4-3 with seven minutes on the clock.

Everybody was on the edge of their seats, it was looking like it was ramping up to be a tense finale.

And when we thought it would not get more dramatic a Luxol player was shown a second yellow card leaving them with four players for the last 5 minutes.

UOM pressed and tried to make the most of the numerical advantage.

A series of great goalkeeper saves for Luxol kept UOM at bay.

The goalkeeper was clearly keen to make up for the earlier mistake which saw UOM get awarded a penalty.

In the dying seconds the entire gymnasium screamed as it looked like UOM managed to get the all important fourth goal.

But it was not meant to be as the ball did not make it past the goal line.

The buzzer signalled the end of the game and Luxol celebrated yet another win.
