A Gozo-to-Malta endurance challenge with one goal — supporting Hospice Malta & The Children in Need Foundation.
A Journey with Purpose
Mark your calendars! On Saturday, 27th September, the GasanMamo Point 2 Point Challenge will mark it’s first edition — and it’s not just about pushing physical limits. This unique event combines sport, teamwork, and community spirit to raise funds for Hospice Malta and the Children in Need Foundation, two organisations that bring hope and care to some of Malta’s most vulnerable.
What’s the Challenge?
Created by three lifelong friends — Daniel Abela, Douglas Barbaro Sant, and Joseph Casha — the Point 2 Point Challenge is an endurance test across land and sea. The trio will take on:

🏃 15 km run through Gozo’s stunning trails

🏊 6 km swim across the Comino Channel

🚴 60 km coastal cycle through Malta — ending with a symbolic stop at the Hospice Malta headquarters.
It’s more than just a race — it’s a way of showing that when we push ourselves, we can achieve something bigger than us.
Why It Matters
The Point 2 Point Challenge is all about giving back. Funds raised will directly support two life-changing causes:

Provides free palliative care for patients with serious or terminal illnesses.

Supports over 1,560 families across Malta and Gozo every year.

Delivers more than 28,000 hours of home care annually.

Operates thanks to a dedicated team of professionals, volunteers, and community fundraising.
💛 The Children in Need Foundation

Supports vulnerable and disadvantaged children across Malta.

Raised over €1 million to help 1,000+ kids through 26 causes.

Runs initiatives like therapy programs, school support, and learning centres for children with autism and dyslexia.

Currently developing K.I.D.S. Haven at YMCA Msida — a safe, nurturing space for children experiencing homelessness.
The Goal
This year’s fundraising target is €163,828 — split between Hospice Malta and the Children in Need Foundation. Contributions can range from large corporate donations to smaller community-driven support, because every euro brings these projects closer to reality.
