The Golden Globe Award Winners Have Been Announced

Award season has kicked into overdrive as the Golden Globes happened last night.

Held in Beverly Hills California, this was the 81st time the awards took place and were hosted by Jo Koy.

The awards give us a clear indication of the movies and actors that will dominate the awards campaign in the months to come.

Oppenheimer looks set to accomplish that feat as it took home five awards.

Christopher Nolan’s biopic about the atomic bomb creator won the big prize for Best Motion Picture- Drama.

Nolan won his first Golden Globe for Best Director.

Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr won Best Actor and Supporting Actor-Drama.

The two actors played J Robert Oppenheimer and his counterpart Lewis Strauss respectively.

Ludwig Gorannson’s hauntingnly memorable score struck everyone and won Best Score.

Lily Gladstone made history by becoming the first indigenous to win an award and began her speech in her original Blackfeet language.

She won Best Actress-Drama, portraying Native American Molly Burkhart in Killers Of The Flower Moon.

Barbie won the Cinematic Box Office Achievement award for grossing $1.4 billion worldwide.

Margot Robbie accepted the award wearing a pink gown inspired by Barbie’s 1977 superstar outfit.

Barbie also won Best Original Song for Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

Billie and her brother Finneas who co-wrote the song shared the win together.

Barbie however, lost out for Best Picture (Comedy) to Poor Things.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s absurdist movie also won Best Actress (Comedy) with Emma Stone’s performance.

Justine Triet’s courtroom drama Anatomy of a Fall won two big prizes: Best Screenplay and Foreign Language Film.

Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s latest movie The Boy and the Heron won the Best Animated Film.

It was also a fantastic night for HBO’s Succession which recently wrapped up its final season.

The show won Best TV Series- Drama for the third time.

It nearly had a clean sweep in acting with three of their actors winning.

Kieran Culkin won Best Leading TV Actor for playing Roman Roy.

His co-stars Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong previously won the award.

Sarah Snook who plays his sister Shiv won Best Leading TV Actress, saying the show changed her life.

Matthew McFadyen won Best Supporting TV Actor for playing the role of Tom Wombsgams.

FX’s The Bear won Best TV Series in Musical or Comedy.

Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri earned acting awards in the same category.

Lastly, Elizabeth Debicki’s portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown won her Best Supporting Actress on TV.
