A Team of Young Innovators is Bringing a Sustainable Solution to Those Who Need It Most
Taking medication should be easy. But for many seniors and people with dexterity issues, opening blister packs can be frustrating. That’s where Simplex comes in. This start-up was created by six students from St. Aloysius College as part of the JA Mini Company program. Their goal? To simplify everyday challenges with sustainable and smart solutions. Their first product is the pill popper.
What is the Simplex Pill Popper?
The Simplex Pill Popper is a tool that makes opening blister packs easier. It helps the elderly, individuals with Parkinson’s, and those with limited hand movement. This simple device saves time and effort.
Why It Stands Out
- Eco-Friendly – Made from repurposed wood cut-offs, it is biodegradable and kind to the planet.
- Affordable – Costs only €7.99, making it accessible to many.
- Unique – One of the few wooden pill poppers in the world and the only one in Malta!
More Than Just a Product
Simplex is not just about selling a tool. It wants to make a real impact. Many people with physical challenges go unnoticed in society. The team aims to change that.
Customers can sponsor a pill popper for Step Up for Parkinson’s. This means buying one and donating it to someone in need.
What’s Next for Simplex?
- Partnering with Charities – Simplex is looking to team up with NGOs to help more people.
- Customisation Options – Future plans include adding colours and messages to the design.
- Better Design – The team is working on improving the size, shape, and materials.
