The Smartest Actors in Hollywood

Many actors or actresses in Hollywood drop out of school early to pursue acting careers.

Others however expanded their studies and held impressive education resumes besides acting in Hollywood.

Here are some of the smartest actors in Hollywood.

John Krasinski

Before acting, John was an English teacher at a school in Costa Rica for one semester.

He returned to Browns University to study biology and organization management, his favourite subjects.

He then interned on Conan O’Brien’s late night show before securing the role of Jim Halpert in The Office.

Emma Watson

Making Hermoine Granger proud, Emma graduated with a degree in English Literature from Brown’s University in 2014.

She was appointed as an Ambassador for Goodwill to the United Nations that same year.

Emma is also passionate about women’s rights where her role was crucial for the #HeForShe campaign which she started.

Bradley Cooper

The American has always loved drama since his school years.

He pursued a English degree at Georgetown University, which he graduated from.

He also has a Master of Fine Arts from NYC’s School of Drama Actors.

He’s now one of Hollywood’s biggest stars with 12 Academy Award nominations under his belt.

Natalie Portman

The Oscar-winning actress studied at Hebrew University in Israel, her birthplace.

She holds a Harvard Bachelor’s degree where she enrolled at that university using her birthname Natalie Herschlag.

Her professors recognised Natalie’s destiny for acting greatness and has also been published twice in scientific journals.

Edward Norton

The two-time Oscar nominee was enrolled at Yale University studying history.

He suffered from a back injury that forced him to quit his job at a crew team and became interested in theatre.

After graduating, he moved to Osaka, Japan, working with his grandfather’s NGO Enterprise Foundation, which supports affordable housing.

He also learned the language during that time and practiced martial arts technique named Aikido.

Lisa Kudrow

She is a Biology graduate and also clinically researched with her father about headaches and brain dominance.

Just six months later, she changed her career path to acting instead of expanding her biology education.

It was a risk well taken as she is now known as Phoebe Buffay on Friends.

Ken Jeong

Before getting to Hollywood, Ken was a doctor.

He studied pre-med at Duke University, earned an MD at UNC Chapel Hill, and completed his residency in New Orleans.

His work saw him treating patients daily and performing stand-up comedy at night.

His passion for performing led to his acting career transition where he is most known for Community and The Hangover trilogy.

Mayim Balik

Beginning her career as a child star on Blossom, Mayim paused her acting to focus on her studies.

During that time, she had a Bachelor’s Degree in neurosciences and Hebrew and Jewish studies from UCLA.

She returned to acting in 2005 where she gained worldwide recognition as the extremely smart Amy Fowler on The Big Bang Theory.

Just two years later, she finished her PHD in neurosciences.
