Last Saturday saw the JA Malta Finals and Awards Night!
JA Malta was celebrating its 35th Anniversary and student companies from its Company and Startup Programmes filled Sir Temi Zammit Hall for the Finals Night.
The Company Programme sees students between the ages of 15 and 17 take a business idea from concept to reality.
Over an academic year the student teams create and manage their own mini company.
On the other hand the StartUp Programme sees students develop and prototype a business concept.
Students aged between 18 and 30 years old are eligible to participate in this programme.
Six student companies where selected as finalists for the Company Programme and four for the StartUp Programme.
On the night the teams did a final presentation in front of the audience and fielded questions from the judges.
The judges then had the difficult task to choose the winners!
ReMind dominated the Company Programme awards night winning 5 awards and also the Company of the Year Award.
Their product is a multi-generational card game which has Maltese elements in its design.
This same company was already selected earlier this year to represent Malta in Latvia in another student festival.
On the other hand Little Root won four awards and the overall StartUp Programme Award.
This company designed and protoyped a vertical indoor smart garden.
Both teams will now be heading to Italy for the #Gen_E Festival were they will compete against teams from 42 countries.
At the end of another successful year for JA Malta CEO Matthew Caruana said:
“Every student should experience at least one of JA Malta’s experiential learning programmes. These programmes provide invaluable real-world skills and inspire the entrepreneurial spirit necessary for success in today’s dynamic economy.”
At Vibe FM we have been following the journey of these student companies and cannot wait to see them make Malta proud!
Best of luck to ReMind and Little Root!
