From 2.2 metres of sausage to heartfelt support, all proceeds go towards empowering persons with disabilities in Malta.
After stacking our way into the history books with the tallest Maltese sausage tower ever — 2.2 metres, 315 sausages, 67kg of pure local flavour — Vibe FM is making sure every bite makes a difference.
All the sausage from our record-breaking attempt at the Malta International Food Festival was given Dar tal-Providenza. This could not be possible without the Collaboration with London Butcher Mosta.
And if you don’t already know about this incredible organisation, here’s why they’re such a vital part of Malta’s community.
Who is Dar tal-Providenza?
Founded in 1965 by Mgr. Michael Azzopardi, Dar tal-Providenza provides individualised residential services for persons with disabilities in a warm, family-like environment. Their mission is simple but powerful: to empower residents so they can live full, independent, and socially active lives.
Today, Dar tal-Providenza operates three main residences — Villa Monsinjur Gonzi, Villa Papa Giovanni, and Villa Papa Luciani — plus four community homes in Siġġiewi, Qawra, Birkirkara, and Żurrieq.
They currently care for around 115 residents, aged from 14 to over 80, and also offer respite services to support families. Many residents attend activities or day centres, while others have jobs both inside and outside the home.
A Home Built on Faith and Inclusion
Since 1968, a small community of Sisters of St Joan Antide Thouret (Sisters of Charity) has lived and worked within Dar tal-Providenza, offering love, care, and service to residents.
The home is affiliated with international organisations like SPRED in Scotland, which supports people with intellectual disabilities in integrating into parish communities, and the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities, representing over 15,000 support services across Europe.
Running these homes takes €7 million per year, and every bit of help counts. That’s why events like our Maltese Sausage Tower are so important — they bring people together for a cause that truly matters.
Why We’re Proud to Support Them
Dar tal-Providenza stands for:
-
Respect & Dignity – valuing every person equally, regardless of ability
-
Empowerment – helping residents maximise their abilities and make their own choices
-
Community Spirit – fostering connections, inclusion, and support
-
Family Values – recognising the family as the foundation of society
-
Faith in Action – ensuring no lack of resources stands in the way of care
From Attempting Records to Support
The Maltese Sausage Tower was our fun way of celebrating Maltese Sausage Day (which Vibe FM started!), but it was also a way to make a real impact.
Every euro raised from the tower will help Dar tal-Providenza continue their life-changing work — providing safe homes, meaningful opportunities, and a community where every person belongs.
