The annual event helps raise much needed funds for Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
Preparations for the BOV Volleyball Marathon started months ago but we are now just two weeks away!
At the beginning of June over 70 athletes started intensive volleyball and physical training.
They aimed to earn a spot among the 40 athletes playing in the marathon later this month.
Organizers will now divide the final 40 into 5 teams, and these athletes will play non-stop volleyball for 53 hours!
Amongst the players doing the marathon there is also Vibe FM’s very own Frank!

But why do these athletes choose to put themselves through all of this in the sweltering heat of July?
Easy.. because having seen first hand what Id-Dar tal-Providenza means to its residents they want to help raise much needed funds.
Every year the home needs over €7m to operate and cater for the needs of its residents.

And the volleyball marathon , now in its 15th year, through sport helps shine a spotlight on Id-Dar tal-Providenza.
The marathon also helps send a message.
Society must not discriminate against persons with disabilities and must ensure they have equal opportunities.

So save the date, and head over to Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Siġġiewi to see for yourself what the BOV Volleyball Marathon is all about.
And of course help out by donating!
The BOV Volleyball Marathon will be inaugurated by the President of Malta on Friday 18th July at 6.30pm and go on till Sunday 20th at midnight, and is proudly supported by Vibe FM.
