Exclusive Q&A with two of this year’s headline acts—Damiano David and Ella Henderson, on their creative journeys, Malta memories, and what fans can expect on July 15th.
As anticipation builds for the biggest night in Malta’s music calendar, Isle of MTV Malta 2025 is set to take Floriana by storm with an unforgettable lineup. Among the headline stars gracing the stage are Damiano David, the unmistakable voice of Måneskin now making waves as a solo artist, and Ella Henderson, the powerhouse singer-songwriter behind global hits like “Ghost” and “Crazy What Love Can Do.”
They’ll be joined by Brazilian DJ sensation Alok, as well as a strong lineup of local artists bringing Maltese talent to the international stage. Ahead of the show, we caught up with Damiano and Ella for a quickfire Q&A, where they opened up about their pre-show rituals, the music that moves them, and why performing in Malta is unlike anywhere else in the world.

Q: You’ve never even stepped on a Maltese stage yet, and somehow half the island is already obsessed with you. When did you first clock that Malta had that much love for you, and how does it mess with your head before a show?
DAMIANO: “Honestly, it’s crazy; I didn’t expect it at all. I can’t wait to get out on stage and see everyone. I’m really buzzing for this show; it’s going to be special, and I hope everyone loves it.”
Q: People copy your style without you even trying. Does being everyone’s fashion inspiration ever get in the way of just making music for fun? Or do you kind of enjoy the madness?
DAMIANO: “I don’t think about it too much; style is like another way to express myself. I’ve always loved clothes and playing with different styles and different clothes. It’s such a compliment if people feel inspired by that themselves.”

Q: What do you remember from your last trip to Malta that stuck with you? And this time, what’s something non-touristy you really want to do?
ELLA: The last time I visited Malta, I was able to take some time to visit the old town & parts of Mdina with my fiancé, Jack. I’d wanted a real gold St. Christopher necklace for some time & Jack found me the perfect one in a cute little jeweller’s over there. I wear it every day & it always takes me back to the memory of us roaming around the old town in the sunshine. We absolutely loved exploring! This time around I really want to try some fabulous local food!
Q: That show in the rain? Still gets talked about here! In your head, was it epic or chaotic, or were you just praying not to get electrocuted mid-set? It won’t be a problem this time!
ELLA: Haha! Yes, it was quite a moment!! It was kind of wild because my song lyrics were saying ‘Make It Rain with Love’ as it started to rain! I always love a challenge & the rain did not stop me from having a great night! However, hopefully we see more sunshine & sunsets this time around though, pretty please!
