Who and Why is MrBeast the Viral Sensation He Is Today?

Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, is one of Youtube’s biggest stars and earners.

At only 25 years of age, Mr Beast has gained fame through viral videos where he tackles extreme challenges.

MrBeast is the most subscribed Youtube channel with 240 million subscribers surpassing Pewdiepie in November 2022.

He was born on May 7th 1998.

The YouTube star and his brother, CJ, grew up in Greenville, eastern North Carolina.

He uploaded his first Youtube video at 13 years old.

The teenager started his YouTube journey with the username “MrBeast6000.”

At first, he struggled to figure out the YouTube algorithm, creating content he thought would get the most views.

His channel evolved through different stages.

It started with hilarious video game compilations, to estimating YouTubers’ wealth, giving tips to creators, and YouTube drama commentary.

Between 2015 and 2016, he gained followers with his “worst intro” videos.

These videos joked about YouTube introductions, helping him to grow his audience.

He hit 30,000 subscribers halfway through 2016.

Later that year, he started college where he only spent around 2 weeks.

He told his mom that he preferred to be poor than anything except Youtube.

In a post on X, he said that she moved him out of their North Carolina home when he was 18.

She did this as she wanted success and love for him.

By that time, he became viral after uploading a video counting to 100,000.

This challenge took almost two days to complete.

Similar challenges followed and the subscriber count rose to a million.

One challenge saw him spin a fidget spinner whilst watching Jake Paul’s “It’s Everyday Bro” for 10 hours straight.

During this time, his four childhood friends joined him and worked together.

Chris, Chandler, Garrett and Jake appear in some challenges.

Jimmy has been a major part in an innovative trend of extreme challenges and large scale sponsored giveaways.

He’s also a savvy entrepreneur, launching ventures like Mr Beast Burger and Feastables, a healthy and plant-based chocolate brand.

Despite his massive earnings, ranging from $600 to $700 million yearly, he reinvests back into his projects.

The majority of his projects are charity organizations.

One of which is Beast Philanthropy, which provides hunger relief for people suffering from poor living conditions and homelessness.

He claims he doesn’t consider himself wealthy yet.

He has also said he will give away every penny before dying.
