Emmanuel Mbende headed home the winner just before half-time. But Valletta were forced to fend off Naxxar’s second-half fightback as they held on to the three points and remain as the only unbeaten side in the division.

Ħamrun Spartans suffered their first defeat of the season when they were beaten by Sliema Wanderers 2-0.
The Spartans, who were playing their sixth match in the space of a fortnight, looked tired after their gallant display against Jagiellonia, of Poland, in the UEFA Conference League.
Sliema took the lead through Brazilian forward Fernandinho Jr, and the Spartans’ challenge was made more difficult after forward Semar Smajlagic was dismissed for a violent challenge on Thiago Espindola.
Ħamrun kept pushing forward, but it was Sliema who sealed the points through Vito Plut.
Tarxien Rainbows FC (0 – 2) Marsaxlok FC
Marsaxlokk secured an important win when they beat Tarxien Rainbows 2-0 with Ayom Majok netting both goals.
Żabbar St. Patrick FC (0 – 2) Birkirkara FC
Birkirkara maintained their positive form of late with a 2-0 win over Żabbar St. Patrick.
Lucas Macula put the Stripes ahead before Kemar Reid sealed the points late on.
Mosta FC (3 – 4) Gżira United FC
Darren Abdilla enjoyed a bright start at the helm of Gżira United when he led the team to a thrilling 4-3 win.
Brazilian forward Andre grabbed a brace with the other goals coming from Fabricio Virgens and Luis Riascos.
For Mosta, Prince Emmanuel, Daniel Henrique and Zachary Brincat put their name on the scoresheet.
