Esports Comes to the Olympics!
While the Paris Olympics are in full swing, a groundbreaking announcement has been made by the International Olympic Committee:
Esports is officially coming to the Olympics!
Not in the traditional sense—it won’t replace any current sports or be a separate medal event. Instead, there will be a dedicated Olympic Esports Games, starting in 2025.
On July 23, 2024, during the 142nd IOC Session in Paris, the IOC unanimously voted to create the Olympic Esports Games, bringing the Olympics into the digital age.
The first Olympic Esports Games will take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next year!
Currently, the Maltese Olympic Committee has no esports representative federations, but that might change soon. We could see Malta’s esports stars competing in Saudi Arabia next year!
