Leaders Birkirkara managed to hold on to top spot in the Top 6 after they came from behind to grind up a point against Sliema Wanderers.
The Stripes were in for a tough test against the Blues who raced ahead in the first half thanks to an individual strike from Vito Plut.
But Birkirkara came back strongly after the break and managed to level matters through Maxuell Maia.
The Brazilian forward turned from hero to villain when he was shown a second yellow card and was dismissed.
Sliema turned up the heat on the Stripes who however, managed to hold on and take a point.
Floriana FC (1 – 2) Ħamrun Spartans FC
Floriana had the chance to leapfrog Birkirkara in top spot with victory over Ħamrun Spartans on Sunday.
But the Greens were in a for a shock as the Reds put on a resilient performance and snatch an impressive 2-1 win.
Luke Montebello was the Spartans hero when scoring two goals before limping off with a serious injury.
Floriana managed to reopen the match with a Kyrian Nwoko goal after the break.
But the Spartans, who welcomed back veteran defender Steve Borg back from a long-term injury, held on to another impressive win.
Hibernians FC (3 – 2) Mosta FC
Hibernians and Mosta played out a five-goal thriller as the Paolites prevailed 3-2.
Jurgen Degabriele bagged a brace for the Paolites with the other goal coming from Federico Falcone.
Joao Teixeira and Stephen Chiemezie responded for Mosta.
Melita FC (1 – 0) Balzan FC
In the Bottom 6, Melita moved five points clear from the last two places after edging past Balzan 1-0.
Matthew Debattista was Melita’s hero after grabbing the winner with a fine volley midway through the first half.
Naxxar Lions FC (3 – 0) Żabbar St. Patrick FC
Żabbar SP continued to revive their hopes of moving out of the relegation zone when they stunned Naxxar Lions 3-0.
Brian Gambarte notched a brace with the other goal coming from Martim Ferreira.
Gżira United FC (0 – 0) Marsaxlokk FC
Bottom Six joint-leaders Gżira United and Marsaxlokk cancelled each other in a goalless draw to ensure they will mathematically not finish in the bottom two places.
