JA Malta Scores Awards at Gen-E 2025

JA Malta teams MediMynd and Simplex put Malta on the map at Gen-E 2025 in Athens with big wins, fresh ideas, and all the entrepreneurial energy.

Malta just made waves at one of Europe’s biggest stages for student innovation—and we’re here for it.

Two youth-led teams repping JA Malta crushed it at Gen-E 2025, a massive three-day entrepreneurship festival held in Athens, Greece. Bringing together over 1,000 participants from 40+ countries, Gen-E is where the continent’s brightest student start-ups show off their hustle.

From the Virtual Expo to the real-life buzz in Athens, Malta stood tall thanks to Simplex (from JA Malta’s Company Programme) and MediMynd (from the StartUp Programme).

And let’s talk wins.

💥 MediMynd didn’t just compete; they owned the stage. The health-focused team landed 3rd place in the Innovation of the Year award and also scored the FedEx Access Award. That’s double recognition for their creativity, real-world impact, and potential to grow big.

👏 Simplex might not have walked away with a trophy, but they still made Malta proud. Their smooth pitch and entrepreneurial spirit turned heads and earned serious respect from judges and peers across Europe.

“This year’s Gen-E didn’t just celebrate ideas — it showed how young people can actually lead change,” said Matthew Caruana, CEO of JA Malta. “We’re beyond proud of MediMynd and Simplex. They’ve put Malta on the map with talent, grit, and real innovation.”

Why It Matters

Gen-E is the grand finale of JA Europe’s StartUp and Company programmes, where student-led businesses go from classroom to competition stage. Thousands apply. Only a few make it to the top. Malta’s success shows how strong the local entrepreneurial scene is becoming, and JA Malta is right at the heart of it.

Behind every student win is a whole village of support. JA Malta gave a massive shoutout to its mentors, educators, and partners for helping make this journey possible.

Special thanks go out to:

  • HSBC Malta Foundation

  • Jobsplus

Their commitment helped shape some of Malta’s brightest young entrepreneurs.

What’s Next?

With momentum like this, JA Malta is fired up to keep building future-ready changemakers. Whether it’s launching new ideas or reimagining what work looks like, this new generation is ready to take over, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
