The closing stages of Maltese futsal are delivering high-intensity action and pivotal results, with both the Premier League and Challenger League reaching crucial turning points.
In the Premier Futsal League, the headline fixture of the week lived up to expectations as University of Malta Futsal took on league leaders Luxol St Andrews Futsal. In a match that carried significant weight in the title race, Luxol emerged with a convincing 4–1 victory. The result further solidifies their position at the top of the standings, while the University of Malta side continues its pursuit from second place.

Elsewhere, fans were treated to a thrilling encounter between Marsaskala Futsal Legends and GŻR Birżebbuġia St Peter’s Futsal. Marsaskala initially took control of the game, but Birżebbuġia staged an impressive second-half comeback to secure a narrow 4–3 win, keeping their competitive hopes alive.

Following these results, the league table sees Luxol St Andrews Futsal leading with 33 points. University of Malta Futsal remain in second place with 27 points, while Marsaskala Futsal Legends and GŻR Birżebbuġia St Peter’s Futsal are level on 21 points each. Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA occupy fifth place with 12 points. With teams closely matched, a decider for third and fourth place remains a strong possibility as the season progresses.

Meanwhile, the Challenger League has entered its knockout phase. In the quarter-finals, Santa Venera Lightnings delivered a dominant performance, defeating Futsal Selection U17 with a commanding 7–1 scoreline.
Focus now shifts to the semi-finals, where Żejtun Corinthians will face Santa Venera Lightnings on the 22nd of April. In the second semi-final, Futsal Selection U19 will go up against Sliema Futsal on the 25th of April. Both matches are scheduled to take place at the National Sports School.
The competition will culminate in the final on the 16th of May, where the two semi-final winners will battle for the Challenger League title, promising an exciting conclusion to an already action-packed futsal season in Malta.
