It proved to be a memorable period for Maltese futsal as both the Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 and Luxol St Andrews FC celebrated major achievements in dramatic fashion, highlighting the continued growth and quality of the local game.

The Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 side wrote a new chapter in Maltese futsal history after lifting the trophy for the very first time following an unforgettable final. In one of the most dramatic encounters seen in local futsal, the match ended 9-9 after normal time before both teams added another goal during extra time to leave the score tied at 10-10. Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 then held their nerve in the penalty shootout, producing a flawless display to secure a 5-3 victory and complete a historic triumph.

The young Maltese side showed determination, tactical discipline and remarkable maturity throughout the competition, with the technical staff also deserving huge credit for guiding the team towards such a significant achievement. Despite the defeat, Żejtun delivered an excellent performance and fought until the very end in what was an intense and highly entertaining final played in a fantastic atmosphere.
The success provides another major boost for local futsal, with the Malta FA U19 side also preparing to compete in the upcoming KO final as they continue showcasing the exciting potential within the squad.

Meanwhile, Luxol St Andrews FC once again confirmed their dominance on the local futsal scene after being crowned champions of the FMA Enemed Futsal League for the 10th time in their history. Luxol secured the title with an impressive 7-1 victory over University of Malta Students Futsal Team in the Elite Playoffs Final held at the National School of Sport in Pembroke.

Luxol controlled proceedings from the opening stages and established a two-goal advantage by half-time before continuing their strong display in the second half to secure a convincing victory and their second trophy of the season. Despite the scoreline, the University of Malta side produced a determined performance and showed great character against one of the country’s strongest futsal teams.

The championship further strengthens Luxol’s reputation as one of the most successful clubs in Maltese futsal history, with club officials also confirming that their next major objective is to continue progressing in European competitions and help raise the profile of Maltese futsal internationally.
