Shakespeare’s classic comedy Love’s Labour’s Lost is set to return to the stage this August in a bold, contemporary production by Post Mortem Productions.
The story follows the King of Navarre and his friends as they make a pact to avoid women and dedicate themselves entirely to study for three years. However, their ambitious plan is quickly put to the test when the Princess of France and her companions arrive, sparking unexpected romances, mistaken letters, and a series of hilarious misunderstandings.
Making its debut with this production, Post Mortem Productions aims to make lesser-known theatrical works accessible, enjoyable, and relevant to today’s audiences.
The company hopes to attract not only regular theatre-goers but also those who may never have considered sitting down to watch a Shakespeare play, proving that the Bard’s works can still entertain and resonate with modern audiences.
This contemporary interpretation of Love’s Labour’s Lost promises plenty of fun surprises while remaining true to the wit and charm of the original comedy.
The production is directed and produced by Post Mortem Productions founders Amy Jo Camilleri, Melissa Mercieca, and Greta Holland.
The cast features Amy Jo Camilleri, Myron Ellul, Stefan Galea, Greta Holland, Eva Mallia Consiglio, Melissa Mercieca, Luca Piccinino, Shaun Rizzo, and Martina Schembri.
Performances will take place at Café Riche, Birgu, on:
• Friday 7th August at 7:30pm
• Saturday 8th August at 7:30pm
• Sunday 9th August at 7:00pm
The performance runs for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with no interval.
