If you thought last year’s property prices were a joke, wait until you hear Matthew Sant Sultana’s take on them.
After making history with one of the first ever full stand up specials in “pure Maltese,” the man with the mic is back at City Theatre, Valletta, for the highly anticipated second edition of San Sultana Xow.
This isn’t just a comedy show; it’s a group therapy session for anyone who has ever survived a Sunday lunch with the in laws. This year, Matthew is diving headfirst into the “joys” of adulthood. He’s talking the soul crushing quest of buying property, the creative art of managing debt, and those relationship moments that are equal parts “loving” and “please leave the room.”
Viral Vibes & Relatable Rythms
Taking a leaf out of the viral playbook of “Xtrajna Post Aħna” that hilarious parody that gave a Mużika Mużika winner a reality check, the show blends original sketches with parody songs that hit a little too close to home.
The dream team is back to make sure the chaos is organized:
-
The Brains: Written and directed for the stage by Carlos Debattista.
-
The Vision: Audiovisual direction and creative supervision by the powerhouse Abigail Mallia.
-
The Crew: Hilarious video segments filmed with the help of Kelly, ensuring the digital laughs are as sharp as the live ones.
-
The Sidekick: Actor Clayton Mallia joins Matthew on stage, bringing the kind of comedic chemistry that usually requires a permit.

Expect the Unexpected (and a Long Night!)
The official runtime is set for 90 minutes, but let’s be real: this is Matthew Sant Sultana. Once he starts riffing on Maltese life, time tends to fly. Last year’s two hour rollercoaster was a hit, and this year promises even more surprises, prizes, and “did he really just say that?” moments.
On the 13th and 14th March, doors open at 7:30 p.m., and yes, there’s a bar for drinks and snacks because we all know you need a little liquid courage to face the truth about your bank balance.
What started as a dream ten years ago has grown into Matthew’s most personal and ambitious production yet. If you’re Maltese, you won’t just watch this show you’ll live it.
