BOV Volleyball Marathon Returns With New Venue, Entertainment Programme And New Online Donation Platform
The BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Id-Dar tal-Providenza has officially been launched, with organisers announcing a new venue, a packed entertainment programme, and a major new initiative aimed at making it easier than ever for the public to support the cause.
Now in its 16th edition, the marathon will take place between Thursday 16 July and Saturday 18 July at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali, marking the first time the event will be hosted at the venue.
The marathon will be inaugurated by H.E. Dr Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, on Thursday 16 July at 6.30pm and will conclude at 11pm on Saturday after more than 53 hours of continuous volleyball.
Forty players, selected following six weeks of training, will form five teams and take on the challenge of playing volleyball around the clock in support of Id-Dar tal-Providenza and its 115 residents.

Speaking during the launch at the Pembroke Training Grounds, Mgr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, stressed the importance of fundraising efforts to ensure the Home can continue providing residential services. He described the move to the MFCC as a significant step forward that offers greater visibility and opportunities for growth.
Bank of Valletta, the event’s longstanding sponsor, reaffirmed its commitment to the marathon. Chief Operations Officer Ernest Agius said the Bank is proud to support an initiative that promotes dignity, inclusion and opportunity for persons with disabilities.
Visitors attending the event can expect a family-friendly atmosphere alongside a strong entertainment line-up. Lara & The Jukeboys will perform on Thursday evening, Versatile Brass & Ensemble on Friday, while the Spiteri Lucas Band will headline a Classic Rock Night on Saturday.
New Website To Make Supporting The Cause Easier
A key highlight of this year’s marathon is the launch of a dedicated online platform, sabihlitaghti.org, which will serve as a central hub for updates about the fundraising campaign and related initiatives.
The website will provide regular updates on the marathon while also offering a convenient online donation portal, making it easier for supporters both in Malta and abroad to contribute to the cause.
Members of the public can support Id-Dar tal-Providenza through multiple donation methods, including dedicated donation lines, BOV Mobile Banking, PayPal, online donations through the new platform, or direct bank transfers.
Donation amounts available via the dedicated lines include:
- €15 – 5170 2012
- €25 – 5180 2013
- €50 – 5190 2070
- €100 – 5130 2044
Supporters may also make a pledge by calling 2146 3686 or donate through BOV Mobile Banking on 7932 4834.
Organisers are encouraging the public to not only attend the event and support the players taking on the challenge, but also to make use of the new donation platform and fundraising channels to help Id-Dar tal-Providenza continue its vital work.
