Key Victories and Shifting Standings Mark an Eventful Week in Maltese Futsal

It was an important week for Maltese futsal, not only with the Malta Futsal Trophy fixtures taking place, but also with several crucial results that significantly impacted the league standings in both the women’s and men’s competitions.

Women’s League: Zero Sei Continue Dominance as Rockets Celebrate Historic Win

The women’s league delivered high drama, highlighted by Parr Mela Rockets Futsal’s first-ever victory — a 3–1 win over St Andrews Futsal. Despite St Andrews taking an early lead, the Rockets showed determination to overturn the result and make club history.

Zero Sei Futsal continued their exceptional form, cruising to a 7–1 win against Swieqi United Futsal LECO7. With this latest result, they remain unbeaten and have mathematically secured their place in the playoffs. Zero Sei now need just four more points to guarantee first place in the standings.

In what proved to be the most competitive fixture of the week, St George’s Futsal edged out Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus 3–2. After St Andrews initially went ahead, two goals from Estefany Colmenarez turned the match around in favour of the Bormla side. The result confirmed St George’s qualification for the playoffs, while Luxol remain just one point away from securing their spot.

Men’s League: Luxol and UoM Neck and Neck at the Top

Five matches were played in the men’s league, with Luxol St Andrews FC Futsal enduring a demanding but successful week. They first produced a commanding 13–0 win over Malta FA Futsal Selection U18, before following it up with a solid 5–1 victory against GŻR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal. These back-to-back wins lifted Luxol to joint top of the table with the University of Malta Students Futsal Team, who have played one game more.

Elsewhere, Malta FA Futsal Selection U17 celebrated their first victory of the season, winning 5–3 against Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal. The University of Malta also maintained pressure at the top after their 3–0 triumph over Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness.

In an important direct clash for third place, Marsaskala Futsal Legends defeated Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA 8–4, opening up a three-point gap between the sides.

The competitions are now set for an exciting run-in, as teams battle for playoff qualification and top positions heading into the final stretch of the season.
