In the top-tier semifinals, University Futsal took a significant step toward the final with a 4-1 victory over Marsaskala. Dominating possession for large stretches, University controlled the tempo of the match, though Marsaskala’s disciplined defensive structure ensured they remained competitive and difficult to break down.
The second semifinal delivered a far more one-sided affair, as Luxol St Andrews underlined their championship credentials with an emphatic 11-1 win against Birżebbuġa. The reigning champions showcased their quality, depth, and experience in a ruthless display that sent a strong message to any potential challengers.
Despite these first-leg results, the ties remain far from decided. The return legs, scheduled for Friday, 1st May, will determine the finalists. With the format allowing for extra time or even penalties if aggregate scores are leveled, both matchups are still very much alive.
Meanwhile, in the Challenge League, the finalists have been confirmed following two decisive semifinal encounters. Malta Futsal U19 made history by reaching their first final after a dominant 11-0 victory over Sliema Fort Fitness Futsal. Luke Urpani led the charge with an outstanding four-goal performance, highlighting the team’s attacking prowess.
In the other semifinal, Żejtun Corinthians overcame St Venera Lightnings 7-4 in a thrilling, high-scoring contest that kept fans entertained throughout.
The stage is now set for a compelling Challenge League final between Malta Futsal U19 and Żejtun Corinthians, a matchup that promises excitement and a strong showcase of emerging and established talent within Maltese futsal.
