QLZH Marks 10 Years of Cleaner Seas And You Can Be A Part Of It

The QLZH Foundation Ocean Bed Clean-Up will return to Birgu on Saturday, 12th September 2026, celebrating a decade of hands-on action for Malta’s marine environment.

Now in its 10th year, the annual initiative brings together hundreds of volunteers to remove waste from both the seabed and surrounding shoreline, helping to protect the coastline and the waters around the Maltese Islands.

The clean-up will begin at 8:30am and welcomes people of all experience levels. Scuba divers, snorkellers, kayakers, stand-up paddle boarders and on-land volunteers are all invited to take part and contribute to the day’s efforts.

Over the past decade, the event has grown into an important community initiative, highlighting how collective action can have a meaningful impact on the environment. Every item collected helps keep Malta’s seas cleaner and safer for marine life, residents and visitors alike.

As the QLZH Foundation marks this milestone edition, the message remains simple: everyone can play a part in protecting the islands’ coastline.

Those wishing to volunteer can join the clean-up in Birgu on Saturday, 12th September, and be part of 10 years of cleaner seas.
