Living in Malta we are so far away from the celebrities we see on screen. Here’s a list of places you can visit that have been featured in movies and TV shows. And yes that also means some of your favorite actors have been to these spots!
Game of Thrones
One of the most iconic shows that was filmed in Malta has to be Game of Thrones. They used multiple spots around the island for scenes in the show including the now collapsed Azure Window. Even though the Azure Window is no longer standing there are still many different places you can still visit. These include the cobblestoned streets of Mdina, St. Dominic’s Priory in Rabat, San Anton Gardens in Balzan, Fort St. Angelo in Birgu, Fort Ricasoli in Kalkara, and Manoel Island.
Assassin’s Creed
An action movie adapted from the video game franchise of the same name, shot many of its scenes around Valletta and Fort Ricasoli in Kalkara.
World War Z
A zombie apocalypse movie, starring Brad Pitt, used Fort St. Elmo in Valletta to represent the city of Jerusalem.
Murder on the Orient Express
The mystery film filmed many of its scenes in Valletta. In addition to filming, production of the movie also took place in Valletta.
Queen of the South
While this TV show shot is mostly set in the U.S and Mexico they shot a few episodes for season 3 in Malta at Fort St. Elmo.
Troy
The 2004 movie featuring Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom used Fort Ricasoli to represent the ancient Trojan city.
Jurassic World Dominion
This movie is the first blockbuster to mention Malta in the script! The movie uses Valletta, Birgu, Mellieha, Pembroke and Floriana as backdrops for its scenes.
