Award season has now taken full swing with shows taking place and nominations being announced left, right and centre.
Today, it was the Academy Awards, aka the Oscars, who announced their nominations.
The twisty spectacle, Everything, Everywhere All at Once leads the pack with a staggering 11 nominations.
This includes Best Picture, Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert and acting for Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan.
Yeoh plays Evelyn, a chinese immigrant who must connect with other parallel versions of herself to prevent the destruction of the multiverse.
All Quiet on the Western Front, a WW1 epic, and The Banshees of Inisherin a dark comedy about friendship follow closely behind with both scoring 9 nominations.
Avatar the Way of the Water and Top Gun Maverick, the two highest grossing movies of last year both grabbed Best Picture nominations.
In the acting department, Brendan Fraser was nominated for Best Actor in The Whale, the first of his career.
He plays an obese English teacher who attempts to reconnect with his daughter.
It is a role that many are describing as his comeback.
Austin Butler also got nominated for the Award for his role as Elvis Presley.
Angela Bassett became the first actress in getting nominated for an Oscar in a Marvel movie.
She plays Queen Ramonda in Black Panther Wakanda Forever.
Cate Blanchett received her eighth oscar nomination for TAR.
Her role is being highly regarded as the best of her career and is the favorite to take home the Best Actress award.
The biggest surprise was Puss in Boots The Last Wish as it received a Best Animated Movie nomination.
It is a category full of competition as it is faced with Pinocchio and Turning Red.
Lastly, RRR also made history in becoming the first Indian film in being nominated for an Oscar with Best Original Song.
