Amy Winehouse’s Most Famous Looks Over The Years

Last Thursday saw the first look at Back To Black, an upcoming biopic about Amy Winehouse.

Amy Winehouse was a British singer and songwriter known for her deep vocals and mix of musical genres in particular soul and jazz.

Marisa Abela, an English actress with Maltese roots will portray Amy detailing her rise to fame, relationships and drug addiction.

Amy was also known for her fashion originality.

Over the years, she has sought for unique styles of different trends which resulted in some truly iconic outfits.

Amy’s stylist and close friend Naomi Parry mentioned the singer’s fearlessness in showing what she truly was through fashion.

She said she always dressed how she wanted and no one told her.

This started in 2003 with a red floral sundress as ways of expressing feminine portraits.

2004 catapulted Winehouse to musical stardom winning Best Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards.

On the red carpet, she wore a Gothic red dress over a black lace bra.

The latter has recently become a popular fashion trend on red carpets.

The dress was later sold at auction for over $30,000.

She attended the same awards ceremony a year later where she introduced one of her signature accessories- black eyeliner.

Fast forward to 2007, Amy is a superstar around the world with Back to Black.

The album focuses on her troubled relationship with her future husband Blake Fielder- Civil and is revolutionary in British soul.

This was also the time she rocked out her most iconic look- her beehive hair and debuted on The Jay Leno Show.

Alex Foden her hair stylist said that the hairstyle began as a joke where he backcombed her hair and put extra hair in.

Amy made her third appearance at the BRIT Awards that same year proving her boldness in fashionwear once again.

She combined bright colours and creative accessories wearing a Preen yellow minidress, red heels with matching nail and earing colours.

She also had a heart-shaped purse commemorating the awards held on Valentine’s Day.

Parry later said during an interview with Grazia that Amy bought half of Preen’s collection as she loved the dress.

Months later, she performed at the Isle of Wight Festival and was memorable from start to finish.

She styled a casual look with blue jean shorts, a white tank top, a brown belt and coloured pattern heels.

This was also the same outfit she wore earlier at Coachella.

Later in the year, she performed at Lollapooza opting for a pop British look in a black and white gingham with red straps.

Amy’s performance at Glastonbury in June 2008 was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

She had a physical argument with a fan as the latter threw a hat at Amy’s hair.

When it comes to fashion however, the look she chose displayed another side of her individuality.

She wore a blue minidress with floral appliques and three colourful cocktail umbrellas in her hair.

At the T in the Park festival that same year, her outfit was all about retro rock and roll.

She wore a black leather jacket and belt with a black tank top alongside red denim shorts.

The Grammy Awards were unforgettable for Amy as she won five Grammys and pulled off a spectacular look.

She performed Rehab wearing a custom Dolce and Gabbana outfit with flower accessories.

Winehouse’s work visa was not accepted in time for the show hence the reason for singing via satellite in London.

For her final live performance in Serbia’s capital in June 2011, she wore a bamboo-green and black printed minidress.

A month after her performance, she tragically died from alcohol poisoning at 27.

The dress was designed by Naomi Parry and sold 10 years later for $243,200 which was donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Her family founded the nonprofit organization that supports young people with drug addiction.
