Luxol St Andrews FC Futsal continued their remarkable season by claiming the Laferla Men’s Futsal Trophy after producing a commanding 13-2 victory over the Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 in the final at the National Sports School in Pembroke.

The reigning futsal powerhouse wasted little time asserting their authority, taking control of the contest from the opening minutes and building a comfortable advantage that left little doubt about the outcome. Luxol’s quality, experience, and attacking prowess were on full display as they delivered an impressive performance worthy of champions.

Nathan Cope was among the standout performers on the night, helping himself to a hat-trick as Luxol’s attacking unit overwhelmed their youthful opponents. Luke Gatt, Collin Sammut, and several of their teammates also got on the scoresheet as the champions continued to add to their tally throughout the encounter.
For the Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 side, Luke Urpani netted both goals in a difficult evening against one of the strongest futsal teams in Malta. Despite the scoreline, the young squad showed determination, resilience, and commitment, gaining valuable experience against elite opposition.

The triumph marks Luxol’s third trophy of the season, further underlining the club’s dominance in Maltese futsal. Their consistency, depth, and winning mentality have once again been key factors behind another successful campaign, cementing their position at the top of the local game.
While the spotlight rightly falls on Luxol’s latest achievement, recognition must also be given to the Malta FA for its continued investment in youth futsal development. The Malta FA Futsal Selection project remains an important initiative, providing some of the country’s most promising young players with exposure to high-level competition and a valuable pathway for progression within the sport.

Although the final proved a difficult challenge for the U19 selection, the experience gained will undoubtedly contribute to the development of the next generation of Maltese futsal talent, highlighting the long-term value of such programmes for the future of the national game.
