How Queen Charlotte Reframes These Bridgerton Scenes

After finishing Queen Charlotte, you may have thought, “I need to watch Bridgerton again!”

In fact, Bridgerton reentered Netflix’s Top 10 charts after Queen Charlotte premiered, so much so that the juicy prequel practically begs viewers to revisit the core series.

In Bridgerton, we never really learned the full story of Queen Charlotte and King George.

This new information brings more detail to the royals who have never been fully explored.

After rewatching these specific Bridgerton scenes, they take on a completely new meaning.

George’s Observatory

Bridgerton

One of the few times he appears on Bridgerton, King George, marvels at the planets in his observatory.

Although it’s a small moment in the show, it becomes much more meaningful after Queen Charlotte reveals George’s observatory is his only refuge when he has panic attacks.

Lady Danbury’s Ball

Bridgerton

The first ball of Bridgerton Season 2 is always hosted by Lady Danbury, as Queen Charlotte emphasizes at the beginning of the season.

Initially, fans assumed this was a simple favor for a friend, but the prequel revealed there is much more to it.

The racist ladies-in-waiting nearly ruined Lady Danbury’s first ball of the season when they threatened to boycott it.

After Charlotte convinced George to come with her, the rest of the court showed up as well, and the ball was a big success.

George’s Wedding Outburst

Bridgerton

Edwina and Anthony’s wedding is interrupted by King George, who bursts into the room raving about fireworks confusing the ceremony for his own wedding.

Although it was a rather emotional scene at the time, it becomes heartbreaking after learning about George’s condition.

George is worried he will be late for the wedding, which now seems to refer to his worry he would be too late to prevent Charlotte from climbing the wall and leaving.

Charlotte’s Offer To Daphne

Bridgerton

Rewatching Bridgerton will likely give you a whole new perspective on Queen Charlotte.

Charlotte tells Daphne in the very first episode that despite social pressure, it is her choice whether she wants to marry Simon.

The moment now echoes what George first said about marrying Charlotte: “The choice is entirely up to her.”

Violet And Lady Danbury’s Friendship

The scenes between Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury after seeing Queen Charlotte take on a whole new tone.

The prequel series revealed that a young Violet idolized Lady Danbury, unaware that the widow had slept with her father.

Violet eventually figured out the truth by the end of Queen Charlotte, but those took place after Bridgerton Season 1 and 2, so that tension is now thick in the air upon rewatching their scenes together.

Charlotte’s Wardrobe

In Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte was most famous for her over-the-top gowns and wigs.

However, the difference between her style and that of every other Bridgerton character isn’t just due to her wealth and status.

Her fans have pointed out that she specifically dresses in the style of the previous era because she wants George to still recognize and be comforted by her.

Charlotte’s Vendetta Against Lady Whistledown

Bridgerton

Bridgerton viewers perceive Queen Charlotte’s obsession with exposing Lady Whistledown as merely the result of her devotion to keeping the social season free from intrusions.

However, Queen Charlotte may have revealed a more personal motive for her hatred.

In one of Whistledown’s first missives, she mocked King George’s mental illness.

Queen Charlotte viewers now know how deep that line must have cut.

Possibly deep enough to trigger Charlotte’s need for revenge against Lady Whistledown.
