The finest talents in Maltese futsal were celebrated during the Enemed Futsal Awards 2026, an evening dedicated to recognising the outstanding achievements of players, coaches and clubs throughout the season, while also commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Futsal Malta Association.

The prestigious event brought together key figures from Malta’s sporting and political landscape. Among the distinguished guests were Hon. Dr. Byron Camilleri, Minister for Education and Sport, Hon. Omar Farrugia, Minister for Youth, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme, Hon. Dr. Alex Perici Calascione, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Matthew Paris, Vice President of the Malta Football Association, Kevin Azzopardi, CEO of AIMS, Mark Cutajar, CEO of SportMalta, and Kevin Chircop, Chairman of Enemed.
Addressing those present, Futsal Malta Association President Perit Mark Borg reflected on the association’s remarkable journey over the past fifteen years. He expressed his gratitude to clubs, players, officials, sponsors and all stakeholders whose dedication and support have contributed significantly to the continued growth and success of futsal in Malta.
The awards ceremony recognised excellence across various categories. In the coaching awards, Gaetano Papaleo of Zero Sei Futsal was named Best Women’s League Coach, David Bobokhidze of Futsal Selection U19 received the Challenger League Best Coach award, while Gabriel Dobre of Luxol St Andrews Futsal claimed the Premier League Best Coach honour.
Outstanding performances between the posts were also acknowledged. Rachelle Borg of Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus secured the Women’s League Best Goalkeeper award, Gianni Farrugia of Futsal Selection U19 was named Challenger League Best Goalkeeper, and Clint Mifsud of University of Malta Futsal earned the Premier League accolade.

One of the standout individual awards of the evening went to Maksim Radojevic of Futsal Selection U19, who was named Most Promising Player after a remarkable season in which he played a pivotal role in guiding his team to the Challenger League title and a place in the Knock-Out Final.

The Best Maltese Player awards highlighted the exceptional quality of local talent. Nell Zarb Cousin of Luxol Sports Club Futsal Argus claimed the Women’s League award, Maksim Radojevic added another honour by winning the Challenger League category, while Maicon Da Silva of Luxol St Andrews Futsal was recognised as the Premier League’s Best Maltese Player.

Foreign players who made a significant impact throughout the season were also honoured. Vanessa Carneiro of Zero Sei Futsal won the Women’s League Best Foreigner Player award, Leonardo Rodrigues of Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness topped the Challenger League category, and Jefferson Breno Alves of Luxol St Andrews Futsal received the Premier League distinction.
The evening also celebrated the league’s most prolific goalscorers. Vanessa Carneiro finished as the Women’s League Top Scorer with an impressive tally of 23 goals. Luke Urpani of Futsal Selection U19 secured the Challenger League Top Scorer award with 11 goals, while Cristian Fernandez of University of Malta Futsal dominated the Premier League scoring charts with an outstanding 31 goals.
In the Laferla Futsal Trophy, the Top Scorer award was shared by Luke Urpani of Futsal Selection U19 and Luke Gatt of Luxol St Andrews Futsal after both players found the net six times during the competition.

A particularly emotional moment came with the presentation of the President’s Choice Award to Celino Alves of Luxol St Andrews Futsal. The special recognition honoured his outstanding career and invaluable contribution to the development of Maltese futsal over many years.

The Enemed Futsal Awards 2026 once again highlighted the continued progress of the sport in Malta, celebrating the individuals whose dedication, talent and commitment have helped make the season another memorable chapter in the history of Maltese futsal.
